Looking back on her previous looks on the Main Stage that similarly celebrated her Blackness- including high-fashion looks that highlight braids, beads, and durags - it only makes sense that our favorite pro-Black queen of the season would bring that pro-Black flair to the runway this week. However, credit was not given where credit was due. Symone embodied the pro-Black, modern-day characterization of Tubman, developed by the Black Twitter community, weaving in pop culture references of Tubman like Nicki Minaj’s shout “TO FREEDOM.” Whether or not you believed Symone should have won from her performance, you cannot deny that her Harriett Tubman should have landed her a spot in the top three. This Snatch Game was one to remember - not only did we get memorable impersonations of Paris Hilton by Gottmik and Mary Queen of Scots by Rosé, but we got Symone’s impeccably hilarious rendition of Harriett Tubman. Last Friday, “Drag Race” audiences, devotees and occasional viewers alike, tuned in to watch “Snatch Game,” the quintessential challenge of “Drag Race” in which the queens impersonate celebrities while participating in a mock game show. ![]() Any “Drag Race” fan can remember Jasmine Masters’s iconic 2016 soundbite, “RuPaul’s Drag Race is fucked up drag,” but despite the iconic dryness with which she delivered her nuanced critique of the curated and unrepresentative drag that “Drag Race” presents, never had I truly felt the weight of what Jasmine Masters had to say - until now. So Instincters, who do YOU want to win the crown and the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar? Write #teamsymone #teamGottmik #teamRosé or #teamKandyMuse in the comment section below or on our social media. It’s disappointing to see what “RuPaul’s Drag Race” has become. I know I will be watching the Grand Finale on Friday, April 23rd eager to see who wins AND if ANY of my predictions are right! Kandy is just not on the same level as the other three and will most likely be told to sashay away next. I have a feeling this season will culminate with a final three instead of four. Her initial arrogance and bad attitude seem to have faded away, and she also seems well-liked by the other Queens. Giving props where props are due she out-performed Olivia Lux in last week’s “Strong Enough” lip-sync. Awarding her the double save of the season (against Symone) a fire was lit under Kandy and she clawed her way into the final four. ![]() She also has one very huge and very important fan – RuPaul. While this writer does not find Kandy all that entertaining, she does have a large fan base. If Symone can pull out a huge moment in the remaining episodes the crown is hers! Advertisement Her confidence seems to be shaky as of late, or it might be an editing trick, as Symone secured a top placement in last week’s “Henny, I Shrunk the Drag Queens!” acting challenge. Coupled with her powerful “Say Their Names” runway outfit a safe placement was, well, safe. Many, myself included, feel that she was robbed of a top-three placement for her hysterical, and underrated Harriet Tubman Snatch Game performance. But she also has notched the most wins of any finalist with four. ![]() As the competition progressed Symone lost some ground, falling into the bottom multiple times and twice having to lip-sync for her life. She turned look after look to wow the judges and establish herself as the frontrunner early on. WHO I WANT TO WIN: SYMONE – THROUGH SYMONE! Symone walked through the workroom doors like a force of nature winning challenge after challenge at the start of the competition.
